The first major change comes in how you access the report. You can access this report through your Google My Business profile, by clicking on the “insights” section as you normally would. Here, you may see an alert showing that the insights from this report will be moving to a new location. This is where you can access these new insights.

Because this report is going to be laid out differently, it may take some time to get used to it. You’ll see a new screen that includes a lot of information. For example, you can see:

How are people interacting with your business? 

You can see all interactions people have with you through Google my business, including calls and messages.

There are several options available for this metric. This report is going to show you the terms that people are looking for when they land on your website. That way, you can see the most important searches that are driving people to your website. 

What have the trends been during the past few months? 

You will be able to see how the performance of your business has been changing over time. For example, you can see your calls, messages, and visits have been going up or down during the past six months. 

Importantly, there are a few metrics that are not going to be included. For example, this report is not going to show you if someone has initiated driving directions to your business from this page. In addition, this report is not going to show you the number of website clicks. Therefore, if you would like to access this information, you may need to do a deeper dive into your SEO performance. 

Key Insights to Be Looking At in Your GMB Insights Report

So, if you are taking the look at this report, what are some of the top metrics you should be looking at? There are several examples. These include: 

How are customers looking for your business? 

For example, are they doing a direct search? Are they doing a discovery search? Or are they doing a branded search? You need to figure out how your customers are looking for your business. That way, you can customize your digital marketing campaign to meet your customers’ needs.

Then, you need to see where customers view your business on Google. For example, are they going to find your business because it is listed on Google Maps?  Or are they going to find your business because it is listed on a certain page? This can help you alter your online presence to meet the search preferences of your customers. 

What actions are your customers taking? 

Are they visiting your website? Are they making phone calls to your business? Are they sending your business a message? This is another way you can figure out how your customers are behaving. 

You can also get insights into your photos. This includes photo views and photo quantities. Businesses that have a lot of images get more phone calls and discovery searches. 

What are the keywords your customers are using to search for your business? 

You need to figure out what your customers are looking for when they enter a query. That way, you can figure out what Heroes you should be targeting in your business. 

These are just a few of the most important examples of insights you should be using if you are looking at this report. You need to figure out how your online campaign is going. The only way to do this is to understand the most important metrics at your disposal.
